Tell us about yourself in 140 characters or less.
My name is Aaron. I love moving around and being active. I love dad jokes. I love spending time with family. I am obsessed with popcorn in the winter and watermelon in the summer. Always trying to find ways to 'brain hack' the body. I am the movement108 founder. I have a movement app called MOVR. I think that's too many characters describing my character.
What is your background with mindfulness, meditation, floating, mental health, etc?
I've had a psychoanalytic therapist for the last 6 years after a really hard breakup. The experience of opening my mind to thinking about myself through more ownership and acceptance of self has initiated my pursuit of presence and mindfulness. That has shown up through intense exercise, floating, yoga or just conversations that I don't hide away from myself in.
What were your expectations prior to coming in for the MQ?
I have a specific interest in experiencing how breath and presence can benefit someone in their body and how they move. Whether that be rest, relax or lift and jump - breathing and mindfulness plays a huge part and generally doesn't get much attention... so - seeing this show up in movement... I'm interested how I can learn more and have that help the people I work with.
If you were to describe the MQ to your best friend, what would you say?
On the surface what seem like simple tasks were measured and shown to absolutely affect how my body and brain were experiencing themselves. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone to see how their brain reacts to stimulus that aren't overwhelming but are challenging in focus.
Aaron de Jong has the determination of a Roman Emperor.
He is passionate about the foundation of movement and because of this passion he wants to make his method known to the world. MOVR, his physical training app, will be a big hit. We all know that. He is determined.
Aaron has also fought as many wars as a Roman Emperor. He is relentlessly determined to work for his mental health and that of others.
We sit and I can feel his thirst for learning. He has intelligent questions. His profile is excellent and his score one of the highest.
His breathing. Let's talk about that. He is a breathing expert. Notice the difference between the stressful activities and his recovery period in between. Those beautiful blue waves (the peaks and valleys) in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th "stressful" activity.
The 10th activity (last one) IS also great. But as you can see, there is some effort in his muscles which demonstrates that he is trying- a lot.
Also his thirst for learning and his intelligent questions are reflected in his temperature response.
The brain is fine tuned as a violin. Aaron has done loads of work for himself in terms of self-development. So much nice turquoise blue shows the ability to have a alpha brain when he closes his eyes.
A sweet, mindful brain.
